It all began when Mecki witnessed the magic that transforms a ball of clay into a beautiful vessel. This experience sowed in her the seed that made her leave a successful career as a linguist and learn the skills of working with clay.
Through an intensive training programme that included courses with masters of their art, Mecki learnt to hand-build, throw and turn, to manipulate form and develop surface colour and texture.
In her studio by the sea, she now makes small series of functional ceramics and one-off gallery pieces - some hand-built, others thrown on the wheel.
Recently teamed with her illustrator daughter and fellow hARTist Zanna, a selection of Mecki's ceramics now form the 'canvas' for Zanna's art.
