David Jackson
Originally from Yorkshire I initially attended Jacob Kramer College after which I gained my BA (hons) in Graphics/Illustration at Maidstone College of Art. Subsequently I achieved a postgraduate Art Teaching Certificate at Leeds Polytechnic.
I have had an extensive career in Secondary and Further Education in Kent and London as a teacher, lecturer, director, examiner, verifier, advisor and Inspector for Art and Design.
I have been painting in and around Kent and East Sussex since moving to Hythe in 2014. My work often originates as oil paintings and sketchbook 'plein-air' studies, which are then developed in the studio using a wide range of materials in a variety of scales.
My aim is to communicate the emotion I feel in a given situation rather than just its optical reality.
