Hayley Restall
I am a mixed media artist, working mainly in acrylic and discarded vintage craft magazines.
The seaside will always play a large part in my art. It is where I grew up and where I live now. I enjoy the beauty of an unspoilt sea view, but there's also a big place in my heart for a world full of slot machines and fairground rides, chips in newspaper and naughty seagulls.
I like my work to contain questions, hidden stories, and a generous dollop of artistic license. More recently I've been thinking about everyone that was here before us - how we occupy the same spaces, possibly even at the same time - and how these shadows interact with us as we go about our daily lives.
I live and work on the Kent coast, with my family of two other humans and three animals.
