Sue Hards
I have spent most of my career teaching in this country and overseas. In retirement l am finally able to devote myself to exploring and developing my own work, having read and thought about the creative process for many years. I’m primarily a mixed media/collage artist but recently have begun to investigate the possibilities of printmaking and blind embossing as another way to express visually my memories of place, feelings and experiences. My work is predominantly abstract and develops intuitively as l try to tap into my subconscious responses to things seen or felt. I believe that each work should create its own reality rather than seeking to reproduce the visual world. In this l am influenced by the American abstract expressionists of the 20th century, albeit on a much smaller more intimate scale.
