Penny Graham
I took up pottery seriously several years ago at the Cube in Folkestone, having dabbled intermittently at various points until then. I acquired additional skills while working in Croatia.
I work as a potter in Hythe and Folkestone and have a fast-growing reputation for my delicate, hand-built pots in their organic style as well as the larger coiled, gourd-shape vessels. Working with both Raku and stoneware, I love the excitement and unpredictability of what might emerge from the kiln.
I love the rhythm and tempo of hand building, which is like a meditation. I see ceramics as a creative and magical fusion of earth, fire, water and air.
